The Siena Women's Tennis was able to reverse its fortunes in doubles play, earning the early point, but eventually lost 4-2 to host Quinnipiac in Hamden, CT at the Indoor Tennis Facility on Saturday in MAAC play.
The Saints (2-11, 0-3 MAAC) took the doubles point when the teams of
Alexa Wilson and
Laia Giralt as well as
Emma Boggiali and
Zaara Omar won their match ups at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
In singles play, Wilson also won her match at the No. 1 spot with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 triumph over Anagha Shankar.
"The women came out strong in doubles, winning at 1 and 3 doubles," said Siena women's tennis head coach
John Chiaramonte.
"We had a lot of tough matches in singles at the top of the lineup. Alexa continues to play top-notch tennis."
However, the Saints were unable to pick up another victory in singles play, dropping four other matches in straight sets.
Quinnipiac improved to 6-10 overall and 2-0 in the MAAC.
Next up, the Saints will travel to Poughkeepsie to take on Marist in more conference matches on Saturday, April 6.
