LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women's Lacrosse led wire-to-wire with a steady performance in earning a comfortable 15-5 conference victory against Manhattan on Saturday afternoon at Hickey Field.
Siena (9-4, 4-1 MAAC) received a boost from senior
Rebecca Gilhooley, who secured a hat trick in the first half alone at the 3:52 mark of the opening half and also got picked up by junior
Sarah Irish, who provided a career-high three goals as the Saints scored 11 of the game's first 12 goals.
Irish, who doubled her career total for goals on the afternoon, secured her first career hat trick with 11:37 remaining in the fourth quarter unassisted to give Siena a 13-3 advantage.
As for Gilhooley, she stayed hot with her fifth hat trick in the previous six outings.
Siena held a robust advantage in both shots (29-13) as well as shots on goal (20-9) and spread out with the offense with eight different players accruing at least two points.
Kelly Logue led the way with two goals and three assists.
Grace Dobrzynski had a four-point afternoon (one goal, three assists) while
Meghan Decker,
Taryn Asselin,
Olivia Nicholson and
Jordan Bentley all contributed with two points apiece.
After a goal by
Meghan Decker made it 8-6 heading into the break,
Wamp struck again to complete her first career hat trick at the 14:24 mark of the third quarter.
Mikayla Cooke had three caused turnovers and a draw control while
Jenna Colabufo had a team-high four ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Siena has now won seven of its previous eight games and is situated in third place in the MAAC standings behind Fairfield (11-1, 5-0 MAAC) and Iona (9-3, 4-1 MAAC).
Siena will travel to Poughkeepsie on Wednesday to take on Marist (3-9, 2-3 MAAC) at 1 p.m.
