Reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Champion Rider completed the three-game weekend sweep of Siena Baseball with a 6-1 triumph in the series finale in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
For the third straight day, Rider (12-14, 9-0) received strong pitching, stellar defense, and timely hitting to secure its 10
th straight win overall, while building upon the best MAAC start in program history.
Meanwhile, Siena (5-23, 3-3) once again had its chances, especially early, but couldn't cash in while stranding 10 runners total. The Saints worked the bases loaded in the first inning, and opened the scoring when
Noah Brooks was hit by a pitch to force in the game's first run.
The Broncs took the lead with a three-run fourth, before adding three insurance runs late spanning the seventh and eighth innings. Rider once again capitalized off Siena miscues, as five of their six runs scored were unearned as a result of four errors.
Brian Skettini paced four multi-hit performances for the Broncs with three hits, two runs scored, and a pair of RBI. Relievers Christian Coombes and Colby McNeely meanwhile finished things off with four scoreless and hitless innings out of the bullpen.
Randall Hien was on base four times to lead the Saints offensively with both a pair of hits and walks.
