Baseball Drops Midweek Twinbill

UAlbany Sweeps Doubleheader

LOUDONVILLE, NY – UAlbany swept a pair of midweek seven-inning affairs from Siena Baseball Wednesday afternoon at Connors Park by scores of 5-1 and 15-3.

Game One: UAlbany 5, Siena 1 (7)
Jared Toby capped a three-run first with a two-run home run and UAlbany (13-29) added a two-run insurance single from Will Binder in the seventh to take the opener.

Ryan Pittz (four innings) and Michael DiMartino (three) combined to scatter just three hits to earn the win and save, respectively, for the Great Danes.

Siena (9-36) scored its lone run in the third inning on an RBI single from Tyler Figueroa.

Game Two: UAlbany 15, Siena 3 (7)
UAlbany erupted for 10 unanswered runs over the final three innings to pull away in the nightcap. The Great Danes only had eight hits in the contest, but capitalized on 14 walks and three hit batsmen.

UAlbany put up a crooked number in the third to seize control, with four of their five runs in the frame being unearned as the result of a pair of errors.

Siena chipped away with single runs in the second, third, and fourth innings to pull within 5-3, but the Great Danes responded with a pair of runs in the fifth before adding four apiece in the sixth and seventh innings. Levi McAllister led the charge for UAlbany, finishing a home run shy of a cycle while driving in seven runs.

Figueroa and Willie Schwarick each registered a pair of hits and scored for the Saints.

The Saints continue their season-long nine-game homestand when they open a pivotal three-game weekend series vs. MAAC rival Marist Friday at 3 p.m. at Connors Park.
