Laia Giralt was the lone Saints winner on day two of the Quinnipiac Hidden Duals on Saturday at the QU Tennis Courts in Hamden, CT.
A day after drawing Saint Francis (PA), the Saints drew a more familiar opponent in MAAC rival and Connecticut school Fairfield. The Stags were coming off a season in which it went 12-9, topped Quinnipiac in the MAAC Championship 4-3 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament against top-seeded Oklahoma State.
In singles competition, Giralt provided the bright spot by earning her 36
th individual singles win donning the Green and Gold jersey by taking care of Fairfield sophomore Nicolette Loeffler 6-0, 6-4.
The rest of the Saints' lineup saw a tough day, dropping three singles matches and three doubles' matches.
Two other singles matches were left unfinished.
The Saints continue play in the Quinnipiac Hidden Duals at QU Tennis Courts on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
