The 2024 Siena Women's Tennis fall schedule got underway on Friday night with the Saints picking up pair of victories against Saint Francis (PA) at the Quinnipiac Hidden Duals played on the QU Tennis Courts in Hamden, CT.
From the singles competition, Junior
Reegan Mullaney started off the new season on the right foot by defeating sophomore Sara Jankovic in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles play, senior
Laia Giralt teamed with sophomore
Manuela Gomez to top the Red Flash duo of sophomore Diana Zuba and freshman Dasha Chichkina 6-3.
Giralt earned her 37
th individual doubles victory as a Saint, moving into 10
th place all-time in program history for wins in that category.
The match was also the debut for Siena new coach Alex Cott, who took over the head coaching duties last month for the Saints.
The Saints continue plays in the Quinnipiac Hidden Duals at QU Tennis Courts on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 12:30 p.m.
UConn and Fairfield are among the other schools who will be participating in the event.
