Through five league games,
Anajah Brown has nearly averaged a double-double per game with 11.0 points, and 9.4 boards per contest. Of the seniors' 47 total rebounds in MAAC games, 25 of them have come on the offensive glass. After scoring 10 or more points in two of her first seven outings this season, Brown has done so in each of her last four, as well as in five of her last six.
Coming off her third 20-point performance of the season,
Ahniysha Jackson has inched closer to a major career milestone. Sitting at 967 points, Jackson needs 33 more to become the 30th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 for their career. Also, at 177 made three-point field goals, she will look to become just the third player in program history to make 200 or more, and has a chance to break the all-time program mark of 205.
One year removed from winning the Northeast Conference and earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament, 12th-year head coach Jessica Mannetti's Pioneers are 5-9 overall, and 1-4 through the program's first five games as a member of the MAAC. Sacred Heart boasts the league's second-leading scorer in junior guard Ny'Ceara Pryor - who also serves as a top-10 rebounder in the conference (5.9 RPG). The team ranks eighth in the league netting 57.2 points per game, while the defense has allowed the ninth most points per outing in the MAAC at 65.5. Sacred Heart has thrived at forcing turnovers, however, ranking second in the conference forcing 9.14 per game.
Siena and Sacred Heart meet for the 11th time in series history, with the teams splitting each of the previous 10 in a series that dates back to Dec. 30, 2009. Home court has proven to be a factor with each team posting a 4-1 mark while playing on its home floor, as well as the home team having won each of the last four. Siena claimed the most recent meeting, 68-57, on Nov. 16, 2019 in Loudonville, and will look to win its first game in Fairfield since Dec. 17, 2014.
Following Thursday, the Saints are back in action at 2 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 18 to host Merrimack. Tickets for the game can be purchased
