After a three-game stretch averaging 25.5 PPG last week,
Teresa Seppala was the first Saint to earn MAAC Weekly Honors this season after being named the Hercules Tires Player of the Week. With that, the junior was also selected for
NCAA.com Women's Basketball Starting Five for Week 10.
Seppala shot 52.2 percent shooting from the floor (27-52), 43.5 percent from three (10-23), and a perfect 12-12 from the line over the team's three outings last week. In fact, the junior has knocked down 30 consecutive free throws dating back to her first outing of the season at Fordham on Nov. 23, and is 34-35 from the charity stripe in all. Her .971 clip from the line leads the MAAC, and is the fourth-highest percentage in Division I.
In her first two games of the calendar year,
Myriam Traore set new career highs in points over back-to-back games. The freshman scored nine against Manhattan on Jan. 2, which included perfect shooting marks from the floor and three, before going for double-digits for the first time in her career with 14 against Iona on Jan. 4. In that game, Traore made a career high six field goals in under 20 minutes of work.
As one of just 66 head women's basketball coaches across the country (Division I-III) with 500 or more career wins, Quinnipiac is in its 30th season under Tricia Fabbri. The Bobcats' lone blemish this season came against Miami (FL) on a neutral court on Dec. 1, and the team has responded with six consecutive wins. Four-time MAAC Rookie of the Week Gal Raviv leads the team in scoring, netting 15.6 PPG on .429 shooting from the floor, and .341 from deep. The team is second in the league to only Fairfield in scoring offense (69.2), scoring defense (58.3) and field goal percentage (.440), while leading the MAAC in three-point shooting (.371) - topping only Siena (.316).
Siena and Quinnipiac meet for the 24th time on Thursday, with the Bobcats owning a 19-4 edge in the 11-year series. Last season was the first time in which the Saints swept the season slate - coming away with a 78-60 win from Hamden, CT on Jan. 27, 2024, and a 74-55 victory at the UHY Center on Feb. 10, 2024. Over two outings against the Bobcats last season,
Ahniysha Jackson served as Siena's leading scorer with 15.5 PPG while going a combined 11-25 from the field, and 6-12 from three.
Following Thursday, the Saints return to the court on Thur., Jan. 16 when the team travels to take on Sacred Heart at 7 p.m.
