The Siena Men's Tennis team ran a record of 7-4 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles pairings on the first day of the Colgate Invitational played at the J.W. Abrahamson Tennis Courts on Saturday against Colgate and Le Moyne. 
 
Sophomore Bruno Loch Varella and freshman Santiago Trujillo each completed undefeated days with both winning two singles matches and then were partners of a winning doubles team.
 
Varella topped first-year student athlete Tim Vargas 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 in round one and followed up with a round two victory against Raiders' teammate and senior Aidan Chung by the scores of 6-3, 3-6, 10-8.
 
Trujillo picked up a straight-sets win against first year student athlete Nolan Bohan 6-1, 6-2 then defeated Colgate sophomore Wesley Nichols 7-5, 3-6, 11-9 in a tiebreaker. 
 
In the doubles draw, Varella and Trujillo zipped past Chung and first year student athlete Witt Bulger 6-1. 
 
Other wins by the Saints were recorded by freshman Mars Argun and sophomore Emilio Zavala Salinas in singles play and Varella and Sviatoslav Koliadynskyi as well as the pairing of Argun and junior Matteo Castellazzi in doubles. 
 
The invitational resumes on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. from Colgate in Hamilton, NY.
