LOUDONVILLE, NY - The second season under head coach
Maggie Davenport '19 gets underway for Siena Swimming & Diving this Saturday, Oct. 4, when the Saints travel to New Rochelle, NY, to take on Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Iona in a dual meet at 1 p.m.
Saturday's meet will stream live for viewers on Iona Insider, which can be found by clicking on the corresponding link.
Starting the season against one of six scheduled MAAC opponents, the Saints will also look towards retaining their Eastern College Athletic Conference Winter Championships title, which the program captured for the first time since the 2015-16 season. The MAAC Championships at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, OH, from Feb. 11-14, will once again conclude the season.
Picked seventh in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Saints return 17 letterwinners from last season, including junior
Hope Ivanovich, who won the MAAC 100 and 200 fly championship last season. In doing so, she set the MAAC Championships 200 fly record with a time of 2:01.80, while her 100 fly winning time of 54.49 was a program record.
The Green & Gold also welcome back another program record holder in junior
GayLynn Kirn, who set the 200 free standard last season (1:52.74). Additionally, numerous members of the team return holding top-10 performance times, including
Kaci Owens in the 50 free,
Camryn Raines and
Mea Amedio in the 100 free,
Natalie Blume in the 1650 free,
Carsyn Ide and
Gabrielle Rentosa in the 100 back,
Leslie Dame in the 100 fly and 100 breast, Amedio in the 200 IM, and
Alice Scalmani in the 400 IM.
Siena has opened each of the last two seasons against Iona, last season in Newark, NJ, in a 159-135 loss, and in New Rochelle, NY, the season prior, which resulted in a 181-107 victory. Current Saints Rentosa (100 back - 1:01.03), Dame (100 breast - 1:07.66),
Claire Donlon (3m dive - 191.70), and
Sydney Murray (1m dive - 184.35) earned individual wins in the dual meet.
Following Iona, Siena will host Rhode Island and Stonehill at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, for its first home meet of the season at Siena Swim Center.
