After the most dominant three-game stretch of her young career, Siena Women's Basketball standout freshman Francesca Schiro was named Air Force Reserve Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. The honor follows a week in which Schiro scored the second-most points in a single game by a MAAC player this year.
 
It's Schiro's second MAAC Rookie of the Week accolade after previously earning the honor on Nov. 10. She also becomes Siena's first multi-MAAC Rookie of the Week recipient since the 2022-23 season. 
 
Schiro averaged 22.7 points per game on 50% shooting (25-for-50) during Siena's 3–0 week. She posted two 20-plus-point performances, highlighted by a 32-point outing in the Saints' MAAC opener at Niagara on Dec. 19. The performance made her one of just three players in the conference to eclipse 30 points this season, and her 32 points rank second among all MAAC single-game scoring efforts this year.
 
In addition to her scoring, Schiro averaged five assists, four steals, and 4.7 rebounds per game during the unbeaten week. She set career highs with eight assists, six rebounds, and six steals against Central Connecticut State, and matched her six-steal performance against Niagara.
Siena returns to action on New Year's Day, hosting Mount St. Mary's at 2 p.m. at the UHY Center.
