A five-year Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Swimming & Diving Championships record fell during day three of the 2025 championships from Spire Institute in Geneva, OH, Friday evening. Siena sophomore
Hope Ivanovich swam her way into the record book with a title-winning performance, helping the Saints move up to eighth with 152 points entering Saturday's final slate of action.
In the 100 fly preliminary, Ivanovich topped the competition with a mark of 54.63 for a new MAAC Championships record time, and would advance to the "A" Final. There, Ivanovich one-upped herself by breaking the record she set earlier in the day - clocking a 54.49 in the finals to be crowned the 2025 MAAC 100 fly champion. As the league champion, the sophomore qualified for the 2025 CSCAA National Invitational Championship from Mar. 13-15 at the FAST Facility in Ocala, FL.
Ivanovich's victory in the 100 fly served as the program's first individual swimming champion since
Katie Ness won the 50 free in 2011.
Another record fell in Siena's final event of the day as the 400 medley relay team of Ivanovich,
Shaylea Triller,
Olivia Martin, and
Carsyn Ide set a new program standard. The tandem finished the race in 3:51.23 to top the old record set in 2011 by 0.54 hundredths of a second, and finish eighth overall.
Two Saints advanced to the "B" Finals of the 200 free as
GayLynn Kirn placed ninth in the preliminaries (1:53.82), and Triller 16th in 1:54.82. Both improved upon their marks in the finals, Kirn finishing in 1:53.58 for 10th, and Triller 1:54.19 to climb to 12th.
Martin reserved a spot in the 100 breast "B" Finals following a time of 1:06.13 in the preliminaries, good for 16th. The senior finished 15th after touching the wall in 1:05.91 in the finals.
Ide also had a spot in a "B" Final, doing so in the 100 back after touching the wall in 58.31 in prelims - surpassing her previous top-10 performance entry to move up to fourth. Ide finished finals in 58.38, good enough for 14th.
In the 400 IM prelims,
Alice Scalmani clocked a program top-10 time - finishing in 4:42.68.
Leslie Dame also did in the 100 fly prelims, securing the ninth-best performance time in 58.75.
Gabrielle Rentosa's 59.45 in the 100 back prelims also cracked 10th on the program's top-10 performance list.
The fourth and final day of the 2025 MAAC Championships begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 15, with preliminary action of the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, and 200 fly.
