Sunday serves as the annual
Hall of Fame Game as the six-member Siena Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will be honored at halftime. Amongst this year's inductees are former men's basketball greats Michael Haddix '07 and Scott Knapp '01, as well as the 1949-50 men's basketball team.
Â
Siena (13-14, 7-8) is looking to build upon a Hall of Fame worthy performance Friday night in which they routed Niagara 94-60. The 34-point margin of victory was the program's largest in a decade, and the Saints posted their highest regulation game point total in six years.
Â
However, Siena finds themselves in the same position to begin Sunday as they were entering the Niagara game – in eighth place in the MAAC Standings – as they look to keep stacking wins heading into March. The Saints did however create a two-game buffer between the two teams directly below them in the standings with Friday's win, while also remaining just a game and a half out of fourth with four regular season games left to play.
Â
Canisius (2-24, 2-13) meanwhile is fighting for its MAAC Tournament lives as they enter play in 13
th and last place in the standings. The Golden Griffins are three and a half games out of the 10
th and final MAAC Tournament spot with five games to play.
Â
The longtime rivals meet for the 114
th time in a series in which Siena holds a 59-54 edge. The Saints are a stellar 40-10 (.800) at home vs. Canisius during the program's Division I era. Siena is looking to secure its second regular season sweep this season (Sacred Heart) after winning the first matchup against the Golden Griffins 66-53 back on Dec. 8 in Buffalo.
