Siena Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024 Announced

Six-Member Class to be Formally Inducted Feb. 22

LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Siena Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024 has been revealed. The six-member class – which includes the first-ever Legacy Committee and team inductees – will be formally enshrined on Saturday, Feb. 22 in the Marcelle Athletic Complex.
 
The six-member Siena Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024 includes a pair of men's basketball and softball inductees apiece, as well as a former longtime administrator and coach. New in 2024, a Legacy Committee was created to vote upon and induct a deserving candidate(s) who is at least 10 years past initial eligibility and who has received considerable past Hall of Fame consideration. Additionally, for the first time ever, a team was also inducted as part of the Class of 2024.
 
The Siena Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024 Induction Ceremony will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. in the Marcelle Athletic Complex, featuring programming both within the newly redesigned lobby as well as the UHY Center. Registration to attend is $125 per person and includes a ticket to the induction ceremony, plated dinner, and cocktail reception. The registration and pricing also include a complimentary ticket to the Siena Men's Basketball Hall of Fame game vs. Canisius the following day – Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. at MVP Arena – featuring a special halftime ceremony and recognition of this year's six-member class.

Siena Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024
Madysen Cossack '19, Softball (2016-19)
The lone first-ballot Hall of Fame Class of 2024 selection, Cossack was a two-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year (2017, 2019), NFCA Third Team All-Region selection (2017, 2019), and ECAC All-Star (2017 – Second Team, 2019 – First Team). The Agoura Hills, California standout earned First Team All-MAAC honors three times (2017-19) in addition to being a 2016 All-Rookie Team honoree, and was a 2019 candidate for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award. The slugging first baseman is the Siena all-time career leader in doubles (58), walks (93), and on-base percentage (.475), and ranks second in batting average (.386), RBI (148), total bases (354) and slugging percentage (.654), and third in both home runs (29) and hits (209). Cossack set both the Siena and MAAC single-season doubles record with 23 in 2018, when she led the nation in doubles per game (0.52) and ranked third overall in two-baggers.
 
Joyce Eggleston, Administrator/Coach (1978-2014)
Eggleston becomes the first primary athletic administrator inducted into the Siena Athletics Hall of Fame since 1978. A 2018 MAAC Hall of Fame Honor Roll inductee and 2014 ECAC Commissioner's Award recipient, Eggleston served 36 years as both an administrator and coach. Originally from Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Eggleston was first hired as Siena Women's Athletic Coordinator in 1978, and also served as the first head coach of the field hockey program (1978-92), head coach of the softball team (1979-82), and as an assistant coach with the women's basketball program (1978-85), before transitioning exclusively to an administrative role. She spent the final 15 years of her tenure as Siena's Associate Director of Athletics, Senior Woman Administrator, and the College's first athletics compliance officer, while helping grow Siena's Division I women's athletic programs to include the additions of women's golf (1996), women's lacrosse (1997), women's swimming and diving (1999), and women's water polo (2001). Amongst her highlights as a coach, Eggleston was the winningest coach in Siena Field Hockey history, amassed 86 victories while leading the softball program, and assisted women's basketball to a 135-55 (.711) record during her seven years on staff, punctuated by the 1982 EAIAW Division II Regional Championship.
 
Carrie Getz '05, Softball (2001-05)
The first-ever Legacy Committee inductee into the Siena Athletics Hall of Fame, Getz was a 2003 NFCA Second Team All-Region selection. The local star from nearby Slingerlands, New York was a two-time First Team All-MAAC selection (2003, 2005), and earned Second Team honors in 2002. The fixture atop the Siena lineup is the program's all-time leader in stolen bases (56) and, upon the completion of her playing career in 2005, graduated as the all-time leader in hits (188 – now tied for third), batting average (.354 – now fourth), runs (96 – now sixth), and on-base percentage (.394 – now ninth).
 
Michael Haddix '07, Men's Basketball (2002-07)
One of only two players in the eight-decade plus long storied history of Siena Basketball to rank in the top-10 all-time in both scoring and rebounding, Haddix was a 2007 NABC All-District and First Team All-MAAC selection. The Vineland, New Jersey product was a 2003 MAAC All-Rookie Team and 2004 Second Team All-MAAC honoree, and earned MAAC All-Tournament Team honors twice (2004, 2007). Haddix ranks seventh all-time in program history in rebounding (807), and stands ninth in scoring (1,594). A 2007 Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association Scholar Athlete, he twice earned MAAC All-Academic Team honors (2004, 2007).
 
Scott Knapp '01, Men's Basketball (1997-01)
The 1998 MAAC Rookie of the Year, Knapp is the Saints all-time career leader in both threes (293) and free throw percentage (.891). The Sherrill, New York standout earned Second Team All-MAAC honors in 2001, and was a two-time MAAC All-Tournament Team selection (1998-99). Knapp amassed 1,381 career points, and ranks ninth all-time in program history in assists (393). He was a key cog in both the 1999 MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament and 2001 NIT teams.
 
1949-50 Men's Basketball Team
The 1949-50 men's basketball team becomes the first-ever team formally inducted into the Siena Athletics Hall of Fame. The trailblazing squad laid the foundation for what the Siena Basketball program would grow into in future decades, highlighted by winning the 1950 National Catholic Invitational Tournament Championship. The 1949-50 team opened the season with 14 straight victories on their way to establishing a program-record 27-win season. A total of 10 future Siena Athletics Hall of Famers were a part of the 1949-50 squad.
