When the Siena Women's Tennis team needed it most, their singles players stepped up in what became a 4-3 white knuckle victory at Le Moyne on Saturday.
The Saints (2-6) received a victory from No. 6 singles player Madeleine De Faber-Schumacher to cement it after a stretched match that required a tie-breaker in the first set.
Other singles' wins came from No. 1
Laia Giralt, No. 2
Andrea Vargas and No. 5
Manuela Gomez.
"This was a full team win," said Siena first-year head coach
Alex Van Cott.
"We will continue to build towards conference play. Shout out to Maddy for the hard-fought clinch."
De Faber-Schumacher, a junior from Phoenixville, PA, earned the clincher on a 7-6 (7), 7-5 sealer against Alicia Alvarez.
The Dolphins fell to 4-3 on the season.
Next, Siena will take a couple weeks off from competition before returning to the courts on Friday, March 14 at 6:45 p.m. against Sacred Heart (1-4) to open up conference play from the friendly confines of Tri-City Fitness in Latham.
