After stomaching a series of hard luck tie-breaker defeats on Friday night at Bryant, Siena Women's Tennis responded with an all-around team effort in powering past Providence College on Sunday evening to secure its first victory of the 2024-2025 season with a 5-2 triumph at TRI West Bay.
 
Laia Giralt, Reegan Mullaney, Zaara Omar, Manuela Gomez, and Madeline De Faber-Schumacher all earned victories in singles play. 
 
Four were straight set victories while Gomez pulled out a tie-breaking win. 
 
Giralt, the senior from Barcelona, Spain, bounced back at the singles No. 2 position to up her season singles record to 6-4 by beating Bumera 7-5, 6-0.
 
The Saints (1-4) also received wins from Mullaney with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Abreu and Omar, who topped Leik 6-2, 6-2. 
 
Gomez, a sophomore, teamed with Giralt to win their doubles No. 1 match over Root and Eidson 6-4. 

Gomez followed that up with win from the No. 5 singles spot by overcoming Plonowski 7-6 (4) and 7-5. 
 
De Faber-Schumacher, a junior from Phoenixville, PA, defeated Root 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 6 singles position. 
 
The Friars dropped to 1-4 on the season. 
 
One day earlier, Siena took a 6-1 defeat at Bryant as Gomez picked up the lone victory for the Saints with a 6-4, 5-7, 11-9 win over Aurora Pedwell. 
 
The Bulldogs improved to 1-2. 
 
Next, Siena returns to action this Saturday at 3 p.m. at Colgate (1-4).
