East Tennessee erupted for 13 runs over their final four innings at bat to slug past Siena Baseball 14-4 in a run-ruled seven-inning affair in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Siena (1-8) tallied 13 hits and registered 17 base runners over seven innings, but stranded 11 runners.
Jake Sparks homered for the second straight day and
Edwin Sanchez added a two-out, two run double to comprise a three-run third and stake the Saints to an early 3-1 lead.
Trailing 7-4 with a run already in and the bases loaded with nobody out in the sixth, Siena had a golden opportunity to rally with the middle of the order up, but a strikeout and double play ended the threat.
Meanwhile East Tennessee (9-2) rallied with three in the fourth, three more in the fifth, and a pair in the sixth, before ending things early with a five-run seventh. Lenny Montesano led the charge with three hits, three runs scored, a homer, and four RBI. Unlike the Saints, the Bucs made the most of their opportunities, only stranding three.
Sanchez paced Siena with three hits, while Sparks added a pair of hits and RBI.
Vincent Venditti,
Owen Pincince, and
Joe D'Elia each added two-hit afternoons.
Siena makes its 2025 Northeast debut with a mid-week non-conference matchup at Yale on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in New Haven. Connecticut
