Coming off her record-setting Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships winning time of 54.49 in the 100 butterfly last month, sophomore
Hope Ivanovich raced in the event at the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) National Invitational Championships Friday morning.
Ivanovich finished tied for 32nd in the preliminary round, finishing in 55.58. The sophomore was a mere 35-hundredths of a second away from a top-20 spot which would have secured her a trip to the finals later Friday night.
Competition gathered from top swimming schools all over the country including Ohio State, Akron, Utah, Illinois, Rice, Duke, Pepperdine, and Kentucky.
In a tight race from top to bottom, 15 different competitors swam between a 55.2 and a 55.5.
She will look forward to competing on Saturday's final day in the 200 fly, with preliminaries set to begin at 9:30 a.m. from the FAST Facility in Ocala, FL.
