LATHAM, NY – Siena Men's Tennis moved to 2-0 in conference play after cruising to a 6-1 home victory against Sacred Heart at Tri-City Fitness on Friday night.
Siena (3-7, 2-0 MAAC) was in control from start to finish, winning two of three doubles matches for the point, and then secured wins in five of six singles matches for victory.
Players with two wins on the day included sophomores
Oscar Martinez and
Dylan Breen, and senior
Maxwell Acri.
Martinez and Breen teamed together at the doubles No. 2 spot to defeat the tandem of Connor Liona and Brennan Hart-Nova 6-3. In singles competition, Martinez zipped past Antoine Hernandez 6-2, 2-1 before he had to retire.
At the number five singles position, Breen rolled past Charlie Levinson 6-4, 6-1.
Acri partnered with
Bruno Loch Varella to top Levinson and Lucaa Lafrance 7-5 and then Acri won his singles number four spot by taking down Arya Alla 6-2, 6-1.
Sacred Heart dropped to 3-6 overall and 1-1 in MAAC play.
Siena will have a quick turnaround and will play at Monmouth (11-1) on Saturday beginning at 5 p.m.
