Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Colgate

Saints outscored Raiders 5-1 in fourth quarter

Siena Women's Lacrosse made things interesting late in the fourth quarter after a flourish of six consecutive goals got them back into the game at Colgate, but the Saints' attempted rally came up just short in a 14-11 non-conference road loss at Andy Kerr Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

At one point, Siena trailed 13-5 and were being outdrawn 16-6 on draw controls, but the Saints' grit gave them an opportunity late.

The run began with goals from Olivia Nicholson, a pair each from Grace Dobrzynski and Kelly Logue and another score from Cassidy Bonura to close the gap to two with 1:59 remaining. The Saints also were able to effectively turn around the draw control disparity in their favor, winning six of seven in the quarter to maintain possession.

The lone draw control that Siena (2-6) did not control ended up costing them though as the Raiders' Kendall Belanger scooped it and Colgate was able to make good on their chance when Caroline Panzirer put in her 23rd goal of the season at the 40-second mark to put the Raiders back up three.

Sophomore Shaylin Romero made a season-high 12 saves in net for the Saints, who played the entire game and faced 34 shots on the day. Dobrzynski and Logue each finished with two goals and an assist to lead Siena's offense.

Colgate led in shots 34-28 including 26-21 for shots on goal. Ella Bishara, Aubrey McMahon and Panzirer all had three goals apiece for the Raiders (4-5).

Siena will be back in action this Saturday when the Saints host rival Fairfield (2-6, 0-0) in the MAAC opener at Hickey Field beginning at 12 p.m.
