LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women's Lacrosse fell into a large halftime deficit and played a competitive second half before ultimately dropping their MAAC opener to Fairfield 16-6 at Hickey Field on Saturday.
The Stags captured a 12-2 lead largely behind the prowess of Kelly Haggerty, who finished with four goals, and Amanda Kozak, who added three scores.
Siena (2-7, 0-1 MAAC) was led by
Jenna Pollicino, who had a pair of second half goals, and one goal apiece from
Samantha Spieler,
Kylie Kuhn,
Koehler Nieman and
Olivia Nicholson.
Fairfield (3-6, 1-0 MAAC) outshot Siena 27-16 including 22-11 in shots on goal for the duration.
Siena will be back in action next Saturday when the Saints travel to Emmitsburg, MD to take on Mount St. Mary's (5-4, 1-0 MAAC) in another conference contest at 12 p.m.
