LATHAM, NY – Home was where the heart was for Siena Women's Tennis as the Saints bounced back with an emphatic 6-1 victory against MAAC opponent Merrimack on Sunday at Tri-City Fitness.
Less than 48 hours after dropping a road match at Temple, Siena took command early by winning all three doubles matches for the point and then secured five of six singles matches to improve to 5-7 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

Andrea Vargas and
Zaara Omar, and juniors
Reegan Mullaney and
Madeline De Faber-Schumacher.
Giralt and Gomez teamed together at their usual No. 1 doubles position to defeat Caitlin McLoughlin and Jordan Phillips 6-4. The Saints pair improved their season record to 11-8 as doubles partners.
Vargas and Omar topped Kiana Thompson and Keona Gutierrez Dearmond 6-2 and the duo of Mullaney and De Faber-Schumacher bested Giulia Martins Cavalcante and Selasie Senanu 6-0 for the point.
In singles competition, Giralt defeated Thompson 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot.
Vargas came back after dropping the middle set to beat McLoughlin 7-6 (6), 4-6, 10-3 to take the No. 2 matchup.
Omar won in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 over Phillips while Mullaney had enough to get past Vanshita Malhotra 6-2, 7-6 (6).
De Faber-Schumacher picked up her 12
th win of the season with a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Gutierrez Dearmond.
The Warriors dropped to 1-10 overall and 0-7 in MAAC play.
Next, Siena will travel to Hamden, CT to take on Quinnipiac (5-8 overall, 3-0 MAAC) on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
