Siena Women's Tennis picked up another victory on Friday night, topping host Marist 5-2 at the Tennis Pavilion in Poughkeepsie.
The Saints (7-10 overall and 5-3 in conference play) were backed by three players, who all won twice on the day including
Laia Giralt,
Manuela Gomez and
Reegan Mullaney.
Giralt earned her 14
th singles victory of the season and the 54
th of her career to surpass Mitsuki Fukamachi (2013-2017) for the second most singles' wins in Siena women's tennis program history. Only Sarah Mayer (2005-09) has earned more wins with 70.
Giralt, the lone senior on the Saints' roster, held off Clements 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 2-2 before Clements retired.
In doubles play, Giralt teamed with Gomez blanked Lola Ungerman and Chloe Clements Sorde 6-0 at the No. 1 position.
Mullaney and
Madeline De Faber-Schumacher defeated the duo of Jane Wright and Vihana Shresta 6-3 to earn the doubles point.
In other singles victories,
Zaara Omar bested Andriana Zaphiris 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot while Mullaney got past Shresta in three sets and Gomez beat Ungerman in straight sets.
The Red Foxes fell to 11-8 overall and 4-4 in the MAAC.
Next, Siena will compete at the 2025 MAAC Tennis Championships at Mercer County Park in West Windsor Park, NJ
The top six teams qualify for the MAAC Tournament and the first round starts up play on Friday, April 25 with the tournament running through Sunday, April 27.
