Seniors
Christopher DeForest and
Keira Flaherty both finished with the fastest times in the respective men's 5,000-meter and women's 1,500-meter events at the Rider Invitational on Saturday in Lawrenceville, NJ at the Michael P. Brady Track and Field Complex.
Flaherty clocked in at a personal-best 4:32.92, a time that was better than four seconds off the Yorktown Heights, NY native's time from last weekend in the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell.
The event remained a strong one for the Saints as three other finished inside the Top-8 including
Claire Gardner, who was runner-up at 4:34.01,
Mattingly O'Rourke came in fourth at 4:41.27 and
Julianna Tourangeau was eighth (4:54.35).
As for DeForest, his time of 14:59.63 was nearly six seconds better than second-place finisher Tomas Reimer of CPTC-Tracksmith.
The event proved to a be a strength for Siena as DeForest's teammates Colin Brown was third (15:09.58),
Jake Passalugo placed fourth (15:13.30) and Colin Clinton closed out in sixth (15:13.76).
Other finishers in the women's events included:
- Jennifer McClintock saved her best performance for the 800-meter with a mark of 2:15.79 to earn a second-place finish. Katie Hayes had a time of 2:25.04 for a 13th place spot.
- Katie Hesler (11:31.15) was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while Kaitlin DeForest earned points with a third-place showing (11:41.34)
- For the 5,000-meter, Chloe Poulos was the fastest Saint with a fifth place time of 18:10.28. Olivia Armenia (14th at 20:02.95) and Marissa Navarra (17th at 20:55.54) were other Siena finishers in the race.
- In the 400-meter, Sara Fitzergerald came in 11th with a time of 1:02.37
- Other finishes in the 1,500-meter included Christina Peppy in 18th (5:07.82), Izzy McNamee in 20th (5:08.510, Summer Reinoehl in 21st (5:08.80), Faith Skowvron in 27th (5:13.29) and Olivia Schaffer in 32nd (5:33.84)
On the men's side:
Up next, the Penn Relays will take April 24-26 at the University of Pennsylvania and the Capital District Classic will take place at RPI on April 25.
