Baseball Drops Twin Bill

UAlbany Slugs Past Saints

A pair of nine-run innings in each game propelled UAlbany to a doubleheader sweep of Siena Baseball across town. The Great Danes took the first game 20-9 and the nightcap 18-11.

Game One: UAlbany 20, Siena 9 (7)
UAlbany (13-23) scored 18 unanswered runs to claim the opener. Levi McAllister knocked in five runs on the strength of three doubles and Luke Myers added four RBI for the Great Danes.

Siena (14-24) plated three for an encouraging start to the first, but UAlbany responded with four in the home half before blowing things open with a nine-run second.

Four Saints recorded a pair of hits apiece as part of a 13-hit effort, while three knocked in a pair of runs each.

Game Two: UAlbany 18, Siena 11 (7)
The Great Danes produced their second nine-run frame of the afternoon during a decisive sixth inning to rally and complete the sweep. UAlbany had just one hit in the frame, but capitalized on five hit batsmen and four walks in the inning.

Siena again scored three times in the first, but once more the Great Danes responded in the home half with four for the second straight game.

The teams traded five-run innings midway through, and the Saints then reclaimed a 10-9 advantage in the top of the sixth in a seesaw affair. Aidan Paradine, who knocked in three in the nightcap, knotted it up with an RBI single, while Jake Sparks followed with the go-ahead run-scoring knock.

Jeremy Sangalang had another productive day at the plate as well, with a pair of hits and RBI apiece while scoring three times in the finale.

Siena returns to action this weekend at Iona with the three-game series starting Friday at 3 p.m. in New Rochelle, New York.
