Siena (4-8, 2-2 MAAC) has strung together consecutive victories, tightening up their defense in goals allowed, winning versus Manhattan 14-8 and followed up that with a 7-6 victory at Sacred Heart this past Saturday.
Freshman goalkeeper
McAllister Salter has started each of those games, earning credits for both wins to move her record to 2-0.
The Tappan, NY native has combined for 13 saves and has lowered her season goals-against average to 10.47 with a .481 save percentage.
Marist (3-10, 2-2 MAAC) has alternated wins and losses in each of the previous four games, winning at Rider before losing at Iona. In the past week, the Red Foxes beat Merrimack 12-6 and then got clipped by Canisius 11-10.
Marist has been led by junior midfielder Jesse Manger, who continues to lead the team in points with 33 and ranks fifth in the conference in assists with 16.
But it isn't coming from just one player as the Red Foxes sport six players with at least a dozen goals scored this season.
Chloe Birckhead (17 goals), Anne Shine (23 goals), Kate Gaven (16 goals), Caitlin McNaboe (13 goals), and Alexa Borges (12 goals) have all contributed to their group attack on offense.
For the Saints, Dobrzynski leads Siena with 19 goals and 15 assists followed by
Kelly Logue, who has 14 goals as well with nine assists and Nicholson's 18 goals and one assist.
Dobrzynski became the program's all-time leader in points last time out for Siena as her one goal and one assist gave her 228 to surpass Nicole McNeely's previous record of 227.
But it was Nicholson's goal off an assist from
Koehler Nieman with 2:30 remaining to lift the Saints with the deciding goal.
Now, Siena will look to move over the .500 record mark in conference play for the first time this season.
The Saints got to the point with a marked improvement in draw controls, winning 17-9 in the category over Manhattan and then held an 11-6 advantage in the category over Sacred Heart for a combined 28-15 advantage in the statistic over the last two games.
Cassidy Bonura (42 draw controls),
Sydney Hannes (31 draw controls) and
Mikayla Cooke (26 draw controls) have been a three-pronged possession machine while Marist counters with primarily a two-women operation of McNaboe (62 draw controls) and Manger (41 draw controls).
