LOUDONVILLE, NY – "The tale of two halves" succinctly described how the Siena and Marist women's lacrosse game went on Wednesday afternoon at Hickey Field.
After an evenly played first half where the teams went into the locker room locked at 4-4, Siena unleashed a deluge of goals to the tune of a 14-1 second half advantage on their way to cruise 18-5 over Marist.
It was most goals scored and fewest goals allowed since March 23, 2024 when Siena defeated Rider 22-4.
Sophomore
Olivia Nicholson tied a career-best with four goals in a single game while
Kelly Logue caught fire late in the third quarter and into the fourth as the senior registered all six of her points (four goals and two assists) in that time span.
Of note, the Rocky Point, NY native fired in three goals in a 44-second spurt early in the fourth quarter to effectively put the game away for the Saints.
Nicholson surpassed her 21-goal freshman campaign with her 22
nd goal of the season.
The Wantagh, NY native has scored half of her season goals in the past four games (11 goals).
Siena (5-8, 3-2 MAAC) out shot Marist 35-20 for the game and made good on all 19 of their clears. At the draw, they held a 16-11 edge.
In total, 11 different Saints registered at least one point with
Koehler Nieman,
Cassidy Bonura and
Elizabeth Wamp all scoring twice while
Grace Dobrzynski registered a goal and three assists.
Freshman
McAllister Salter improved to 3-0 as she has now won all three of her starts in net. She made eight saves and helped Siena allow its lowest goal total of the season thus far.
Defensively,
Mikayla Cooke had two caused turnovers, two draw controls and two ground balls while Nicholson,
Faye Gorman, Wamp and
Ryann Savage all had one caused turnover.
Siena will be back in action on Saturday at 2 p.m. when it travels to play at Iona (6-6 overall, 5-0 MAAC), who topped Manhattan 10-8 on Wednesday.
