The 2024-2025 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognized the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom, on Tuesday.
The Siena Women's and Men's Tennis teams were honored with six selections with the maximum of four women occupying slots and additionally two men were chosen to make up the teams.
Nominees must have met certain qualifications in order to be considered. Student-athletes must have been at least in their sophomore academic year, maintained at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average and had competed in 90 percent of team events throughout the season or had started in at least 66 percent of contests.
Among the selections on the CSC All-District Women's Tennis Team included seniors
Laia Giralt, junior
Reegan Mullaney, and sophomores
Manuela Gomez and
Zaara Omar.
Giralt, a native of Barcelona, Spain, will graduate on Sunday with a degree in Data Science with a 3.98 cumulative GPA as well as a 4.0 term GPA.
Giralt finishes her career with the second most single wins (55) and tied for the third most individual doubles wins with 51.
Mullaney, who hails from Edina, MN, is a Biology BS major and had a 3.94 term GPA to increase her cumulative GPA mark to 3.45.
On the court, Mullaney earned seven wins apiece in both singles and doubles play.
Gomez, the Bogota, Colombia native, was a member of the Dean's List as a marketing major.
She holds a 3.83 cumulative GPA after recording a 3.68 term GPA this past semester.
In competition, Gomez won a team-best 17 matches in singles and 15 matches among individual doubles matches.
The 17 wins is tied for the third most victories in a single season and her doubles wins total was the fifth most in a single season.
Omar, who calls Castelldefels, Spain home, holds a 3.91 cumulative GPA and had a 3.81 term GPA as an undecided major.
Omar won seven matches in singles play and six matches for individual doubles play.
On the CSC At-Large All-District Men's Team, Siena was represented by men's tennis student-athletes
Maxwell Acri and
Dylan Breen.
Acri, a product of Fort Myers, FL, was a member of the Dean's List with a 3.68 term GPA and will graduate on Sunday with a degree in Finance. On the court, Acri was a double-digit winner in both singles (14) and doubles (10) play for the 2024-25 season.
Breen, a sophomore from Waterford, Ireland, had a 3.58 term GPA with a 3.83 cumulative GPA as a Finance major.
Breen thrived as an individual doubles' player with the third most wins in a single season with 20. Additionally, he won eight matches in singles play.
