LOUDONVILLE, NY - Siena Women's Basketball standout
Francesca Schiro joined elite program company Monday after being voted the Air Force Reserve Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season.
With the honor, Schiro became just the fifth player in program history to earn the weekly accolade five or more times in a single season. She also now owns three more MAAC Rookie of the Week awards than any other player in the conference this year.
Schiro posted her seventh 20-point performance of the season and narrowly missed her second double-double, totaling 26 points and nine rebounds in Siena's lone game last week at Marist. The freshman logged 40 minutes for the first time in her career, scoring a game-high 26 points while leading the Saints in rebounding and tying for the team lead with three assists.
Schiro and the Saints return to action Thursday, Jan. 29, hosting Niagara at 6 p.m. at the UHY Center for the program's 25th annual
Pink Zone game.
