LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women's Soccer junior midfielder
Anna Swyers has earned her first career Metro Conference weekly honor. The Ottawa, Ontario product has been proclaimed the Metro Offensive Player of the Week following her hat trick in the Saints come-from-behind victory at defending champion Sacred Heart Saturday.
Swyers becomes the second Saint this fall to earn Metro weekly acclaim joining classmate and goalkeeper
Cate Burns who was named the Metro Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 31. Swyers is the first Siena player to earn conference Offensive Player of the Week honors in two years, dating back to
Catherine Rogers on Sept. 16, 2024.
Swyers netted the program's first hat trick in 11 years – scoring the tying and go-ahead goals in the span of just 3:28 with less than six minutes to go – as the Saints stunned the defending conference tournament champion Pioneers 3-2 on their home pitch Saturday. Swyers twice knotted the score – first in the 29
th minute and then again with just 5:29 remaining – before finishing a free kick with only 2:01 left on the clock to propel Siena to its first-ever win at Sacred Heart, and first victory over the Pioneers overall in 22 years.
Swyers has emerged in a major way during her junior season after having entered 2026 with just two career points spanning her first 27 collegiate matches. She has now scored at least one goal in four of the last five matches, and has equaled Rogers for the team lead in both scoring (15) and goals (six), ranking tied for fourth and tied for third overall in the Metro in those categories, respectively.
Swyers and the Saints return to action Wednesday when they host Canisius at 4 p.m. on Hickey Field.
