The Siena Women's Tennis team is off to its best start in six seasons.
The Saints picked up another victory—its' third consecutive—this time with a 5-2 triumph over Providence on Sunday at Tri-City Fitness in Latham.
Siena won five of six singles matches with wins coming from
Manuela Gomez,
Zaara Omar,
Andrea Vargas,
Selma Bellaouchi and
Madeline De Faber-Schumacher.
Omar picked up the clinching victory once again, defeating Flora Eidson 7-6, 2-6, 6-0 from the No. 2 singles position.
Gomez, Vargas and De Faber-Schumacher all won their matches in straight sets. Gomez topped Camila Barrera 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot, Vargas got past Sophie Ahlberg 6-3, 6-4 while De Faber-Schumacher earned a 6-3, 6-2 win against Audrey Magnusen.
Bellaouchi picked up her 10
th singles win of the season by going the distance against Allison Root before prevailing 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.
The Saints will be back in action next Sunday, Feb. 8 hosting St. Bonaventure (0-5) at Tri-City Fitness.
