Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Green & Gold Goal Parade; Women’s Lacrosse Rolls Past FDU 20-3

Fewest Goals Allowed since March 17, 2015

LOUDONVILLE, NY – There was no doubt about this one.

From the opening whistle, the Siena Women's Lacrosse team took charge and scored just 1:53 into the game and never looked back en route to 20-3 home victory against FDU at Hickey Field on Saturday.

It marked the fewest goals in a game that Siena had allowed since March 17, 2015 when it also allowed just three goals in a 12-3 victory at Binghamton.

Six days prior to that, it allowed just one goal in an 18-1 romp against UMass Lowell for the program's top defensive effort.

On Saturday, Siena held a dominant 42-9 advantage for shots and 28-4 for shots on goal.

Defensively, the Saints' defense was a nuisance, causing the Knights to only secure 7 of 14 clear attempts.

Offensively, 10 different players scored for the Siena including a team-high four goals from Elizabeth Wamp, three goals and a pair of assists from Olivia Nicholson, a three goal and one assist performance from freshman Cassidy Morrow.

Fellow freshman Hailey Deptula and transfer redshirt sophomore Sara Curley each had two goals and an assist and another freshman in Angie Efstathiou scored twice.

Koehler Nieman, Jenna Pollicino, Cass Belsito and Lauren O'Hagan all tallied one goal apiece as well.

Siena (3-0) matched its' best start to a season since 2021 when it also started 3-0.

The Saints capitalized on their woman-up scenarios as well, converting on six of those opportunities.

The first quarter began with Siena taking an early lead, making good on a free position opportunity as Curley scored at 13:07. The Saints continued to dominate possession, with Morrow adding another goal from a free position shot at 12:05. Nicholson extended the lead to 3-0, scoring at 9:29 with an assist from Nieman. Curley scored her second goal of the quarter at 7:26, and O'Hagan made it 5-0 at 5:24. The Devils' Karly Dillabough broke through with a free position goal at 3:53 to get them on the board. Nicholson closed the quarter with her second goal, assisted by Nieman, at the 5-second mark, leaving Siena up 6-1 at the end of the first quarter.

Siena capitalized on an extra-player opportunity early in the second quarter with Pollicino scoring a free position goal at 13:53. Nicholson extended the lead to 8-1 shortly after, assisted by Curley during another player-up situation. Despite a goal by FDU's Nora Codianni off a free position shot at 9:19, Siena responded with Efstathiou adding to the tally with another free position goal. Wamp's goal at 1:14 pushed Siena's lead to 11-2. The Devils' Jenny Spencer scored with just one second left in the quarter, making it 11-3 at the break.

Siena extended its lead with a dominant third quarter, highlighted by Wamp's hat trick. She scored her first of the quarter at 12:31, assisted by Morrow, and added another unassisted goal at 2:03. Nicholson's assist set up Wamp's final goal with just one second remaining, cementing control. The Devils struggled to capitalize on opportunities, including turnovers and failed clear attempts, allowing the Saints to maintain possession and dictate the pace. The quarter ended with Siena increasing its lead to 14-3.

Siena dominated the fourth quarter to secure a decisive victory over FDU, adding six goals to their tally. Morrow opened the scoring at 13:35 with an assist from Deptula. Nieman followed with a player-up goal at 9:58, assisted by Nicholson. Deptula scored twice more, at 7:40 and 5:49, further extending Siena's lead. Efstathiou added another goal at 1:34, assisted by Eva Pflomm, during a player-up situation. Morrow capped the scoring with another player-up goal at 0:40, also assisted by Pflomm.

Next up, Siena takes to the road at play at Vermont (3-1) on Wednesday, February 25 at 3 p.m.

The game will be streaming on AmericaEast.TV.

The Catamounts have wins at Charlotte (21-10), versus Iona (8-5) and at Marist (14-9).
