COLONIE, NY – Take last year's first four games to the start of the season and flip it.
Siena (4-0) is off to its best start in program history after holding off Vermont 12-10 on Wednesday at Afrim's Sports Park.
It is the complete opposite of where the Saints stood after the opening four games in 2025 when it began 0-4.
Siena has outscored opponents 55-30 on a spread offense that has featured 13 players scoring multiple goals through the opening four games.
On Wednesday, the Saints got a lift from junior
Elizabeth Wamp (three goals, four draw controls), junior
Olivia Nicholson (two goals, one assist, two ground balls) and sophomore
Eva Pflomm (two goals, one assist) and took a decisive advantage behind a 5-0 third quarter that provided a six-goal cushion heading into the last frame.
Vermont (3-2) inched their way back into it by outscoring Siena 4-0 in the fourth quarter, but it was not nearly enough. Lydia Doraz led the way for the Catamounts with three goals while Lauren Lefebvre added two goals.

McAllister Salter made eight saves and improved to 11-1 as a starter.
Siena and Vermont began the first quarter with both teams quickly engaging on offense. The Catamounts opened the scoring with Doraz finding the net at 12:55, assisted by Ava Wilde. Vermont extended its lead with a goal from Jane Trauger at 11:12, again assisted by Wilde. The Saints responded with a goal from Wamp at 7:11. Pflomm scored at 6:25, assisted by
Lauren O'Hagan, and
Koehler Nieman added a man-up goal at 5:08. Nicholson scored for Siena at 3:37, but Vermont's Karina Sethi closed the gap with a goal at 2:36. Wamp sealed the first quarter for Siena with another goal at 1:08, assisted by Nicholson, giving the Saints a narrow 5-4 lead at the end of the quarter.
The second quarter saw Vermont take advantage early, with Wilde scoring a man-up goal at 12:03, assisted by Doraz. The Saints quickly responded with a goal from Pflomm at 11:10, leveling the score. Vermont regained the lead when Caitlin Haggerty found the back of the net at 10:03, assisted by Sethi. Siena's
Cassidy Morrow tied it again with a goal at 3:21, capping off a quarter marked by frequent turnovers and failed clear attempts from both teams. The score was 7-6 in favor of Siena at the end of the quarter.
Siena dominated the third quarter with a robust offensive display, netting five unanswered goals to extend its lead over Vermont. The quarter began with a free-position goal by
Sara Curley at 13:42, followed quickly by
Cassidy Bonura's goal at 13:06. Nicholson added to the tally with a man-up goal at 11:54, assisted by Pflomm. Wamp and Morrow each contributed with a goal, Wamp scoring a man-up goal at 4:23 and Morrow capitalizing on a free position at 1:49. Siena's defense, backed by multiple saves from
McAllister Salter, held Vermont scoreless throughout the quarter.
Vermont staged a comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring Siena 4-0 to narrow the deficit. Lauren Lefebvre initiated the scoring with a free position goal at 13:27, followed by a man-up goal from Lindsay Lefebvre, assisted by Lauren Lefebvre, at 12:26. Doraz added two more goals for Vermont, scoring at 8:11 with an assist from Wilde and again at 7:09. Despite Siena's efforts to regain control, Vermont's defense held firm, securing the quarter with a series of successful clear attempts and ground ball recoveries. Both teams kept the other off the scoreboard in the final 7:09 as Siena held on for the win.
