Reegan Mullaney capped off the weekend with her second clinching point in as many days, earning the sealer from the singles No. 5 position against Samantha Jaros 6-3, 6-3 as the Siena Women's Tennis team defeated Binghamton 4-3 at Tri-City Fitness in Latham on Sunday.
Showing a penchant for winning the closes matches, the Saints (7-1) won their sixth match by the score of 4-3, having beaten Stonehill, LIU, St. Bonaventure, Holy Cross, Le Moyne and now the Bearcats by the same result.
In doubles action, Siena got the point after wins by the teams of
Manuela Gomez and
Madeline De Faber-Schumacher at the No. 2 spot as well as
Selma Bellaouchi and Mullaney from their third spot. Gomez and De Faber-Schumacher got past the team of Apara Khandare and Adelia Wilson 6-3 while Mullaney and
Selma Bellaouchi topped the duo of Nitya Vyas and Jaros 6-2.
In singles competition, Zaar Omar and De Faber-Schumacher also notched wins to secure it. Each won in straight sets.
The Bearcats fell to 2-4 on the season.
The Saints will be back in action this Saturday when they take to the road to play at Bryant (5-3) at 7:15 p.m. in Smithfield, RI.
