Nathan Lincoln delivered the go-ahead two-run single as part of a three-run seventh as Marist rallied past Siena Baseball 6-5 in the middle game of the series in Wappingers Falls.
A see-saw affair saw Marist (9-16, 9-2) strike for three runs on four hits in the opening frame. But Siena (7-16, 3-8) starter
David Siciliano settled in thereafter, tossing five straight scoreless frames allowing the Saints to rally.
Siena responded with five unanswered, scoring in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to claim a 5-3 lead.
Vincent Venditti knotted the score at 3-3 on a two-run double in the fourth, while a bases loaded walk by
Joe D'Elia pushed the Saints ahead in the fifth. Siena worked eight walks on the afternoon, seven of which came off the starter Tyler Harley in 4.2 innings.
But the Red Foxes, who now have registered four of their nine MAAC wins by a single run, struck last. Each of the first four Marist batters reached base safely during the decisive seventh, the first three of which also stole a base in the inning and scored. The Red Foxes were a perfect 6-6 on the base paths overall, while both Siena would-be base stealers were caught.
Aidan Paradine and
Gavin Thorburn each registered a pair of hits for the Saints, while
Nick Bergamotto was on base three times while scoring a pair of runs.
Andrew Fierro went the final three scoreless allowing just one hit while striking out four to earn the win for Marist.
Siena will look to salvage the series Sunday at 1 p.m.
