Dartmouth broke open what had been a pitcher's duel with a four-run sixth inning to defeat Siena Baseball 5-3 in midweek action in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Dartmouth (8-18) scored four of its five runs – and registered six of its eight total hits – during the decisive sixth inning which broke a 1-1 tie. Six straight Big Green batters recorded hits, with Taer Rodriguez delivering the tie-breaking two-run single.
Siena (10-22) rallied with a pair on a two-run double from
Scott Lynch in the eighth, but couldn't get any closer as they fell for the fifth time in their past six games. Lynch and
Noah Brooks tallied a pair of hits apiece to pace the Saints offensively.
Gio Conte went the first five innings for Siena, allowing just one hit and one run in a strong first start donning the Green and Gold.
Nolan Puglisi added a pair of scoreless innings of relief.
Andrew Lombana tossed seven strong innings surrendering just four hits and one run while walking one and striking out four to earn the win for Dartmouth.
The Saints open a four-game weekend wraparound series – three of which will be played in Loudonville – when they host crosstown rival UAlbany in non-conference action Friday at 3 p.m. at Connors Park.
