LOUDONVILLE, NY – Alex Manent and Luke Schwartz each homered twice and drove in four runs apiece to power Saint Peter's past Siena Baseball 14-10 in the series-opener at Connors Park.
Saint Peter's (5-38, 1-21) scored in each of the first three innings and broke things open with a six-run fifth to race out to a commanding 11-1 lead. Manent capped the decisive frame with a three-run home run.
Siena (16-26, 8-14) rallied with five straight to pull within 11-6, put the Peacocks added a pair on a Schwartz homer in the seventh to pull away and snap a 30-game losing streak in conference action dating back to last Apr. 27 at Merrimack.
Eight of nine Saints scored and seven registered hits as part of a balanced offensive effort.
Louis Percival led the way, reaching base four times with a pair of hits and walks apiece and smashed a two-run home run.
Siena will look to even the series Saturday at 1 p.m.
