LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Baseball put five runs on the board in the first and
Ryan Taffe did the rest as the Saints evened the series with Saint Peter's with a 6-3 win in Game Two.
Siena (17-26, 9-14) wasted no time in setting the tone from the get-go. The Saints sent 11 men to the plate in the opening frame, with
Matt Thorsen delivering the decisive blow on a grand slam.
The early offensive outburst was more than enough for Taffe who went seven strong to earn his second win while lowering his overall ERA to a stellar 2.97. Taffe scattered just three hits and a pair of runs while walking three and striking out two.
Louis Percival homered for the second straight day to cap the scoring for Siena.
Vincent Venditti added a pair of hits for the Saints which totaled just six – albeit three of which went for extra bases – but worked nine walks.
Joey Dwyer homered for Saint Peter's (5-39, 1-22), while Luke Schwartz added a pair of hits and runs scored.
The all-important rubber game is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
