Joe Lopinto tossed seven strong innings and Owen Silliman homered and knocked in five runs as Canisius clinched the series with a 13-6 victory over Siena Baseball in Game Two in Buffalo.
Lopinto allowed just three hits and one unearned run to earn the win for Canisius (20-25, 16-13) which moved a step closer towards clinching a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament berth. Lopinto struck out nine and combined with two Golden Griffins relievers to register 14 strikeouts in total.
Silliman homered as part of a five-run fourth inning for Canisius which opened the scoring. Blake Herman preceded a two-run Silliman shot with a three-run home run in the frame. The Golden Griffins tacked on four more in the fifth – highlighted by a two-run double by Silliman – to build an insurmountable lead.
Five Siena (20-29, 12-17) batters registered one hit apiece, four of which were doubles.
Steven Ramirez scored twice and
Richie Paltridge – in just his third at-bat of the season – added a two-run double in the ninth.
The Saints will wrap up their 2026 season with the series finale Friday at 1 p.m.
