Volleyball Welcomes Six For 2026

Coach Kanelos Utilizes Transfer Portal to Power Saints

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Second-year head coach Tyler Kanelos has utilized the transfer portal for newcomers with the addition of six transfer student athletes to power Siena Women's Volleyball for the 2026 season. 

After achieving an eight-win improvement from the prior season and first playoff berth since the 2022 season, the re-tooled roster features a pair of middle blockers, an outside hitter, a right side hitter, a setter and a libero. 

Among the six in the new class feature former UAlbany libero Brooke Malek, VCU setter Abby Edwards, North Texas outside hitter and defensive specialist Brianna Miller, Saint Mary's (Calif.) right side Anna Hanson, Queen's (N.C.) middle hitter Lauren Stiles and UNC Asheville middle blocker Alison Goldberg
 
"We are incredibly excited to welcome these new additions to our Siena Volleyball family," said coach Kanelos.

"This class is a well-rounded group of student athletes that bring high level experience to our program. We look forward to the contributions they'll make to our program on the court, in the classroom and in the Siena community."

Malek, a 5-foot-7 redshirt senior, ranked third in the America East Conference in digs with 297 (3.96 digs per set) and was a three-time AE Defensive Player of the Week. The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Volleyball selection appeared in 22 matches and played in 75 sets. The Edmonton, Alberta, Canada native set a season-high for digs with 29 at New Hampshire last Oct. 3. 
 
Edwards, a 5-foot-10 junior, appeared in two matches and averaged 4.17 assists per set with 25 assists in limited time with VCU last season. The Chapin, S.C. native ranked second on the team in the category the prior season with 335 assists and averaged 5.15 assists per set. In one of her top games, Edwards produced a career-best 36 assists against Winthrop. 
 
Miller, a 5-foot-10 redshirt sophomore, played in 13 matches and tallied four kills, two aces and a couple of digs at North Texas. The West Chester, PA native also made a stop at St. Francis (PA) after leading her high school team at Unionville to a one-loss season and the 4A PIAA state final appearance as a senior. 
 
Hanson, a 5-foot-11 redshirt sophomore, played in limited time at Saint Mary's and was the Vine Valley Athletic League MVP during her senior of high school at Justin-Siena where she led them to two VVAL Championships and two trips to the state tournament. The Sonoma, Calif. Native tallied over 300 kills while also adding 195 digs, 58 blocks and 48 aces in her MVP year.
 
Stiles, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, hit. 281 and totaled 55 kills with 33 total blocks during her freshman year at Queens. The Lake Mary, FL native was the first freshman in Queens' program history to earn an ASUN weekly award since the Royals joined the Division I ranks after totaling 17 kills on a .394 hitting percentage in victories against Gardner Webb and Jacksonville.
 
Goldberg, a 6-foot-2 junior, played in 10 matches for UNC Asheville and tallied 25 kills, 24 total blocks in 10 matches. The Orlando, FL native recorded a career-high seven kills and seven blocks against Presbyterian last Oct. 4.
