Brooke Malek racked up her second weekly award by being named the Metro Co-Libero of the Week on Tuesday in a vote by sports information directors around the conference.
The transfer from crosstown UAlbany has thrived with her new team, leading the Metro in digs with 201 and ranks 19
th nationally among all NCAA Division I players with an average of 4.67 digs per set.
The Edmonton, Alberta, Canada native totaled 45 digs (5.0 digs per set) with seven assists, three aces and a kill on an acrobatic, highlight-worthy play this past weekend in a win against Maryland Eastern Shore and in matches against Robert Morris and Duquesne.
The product of Harry Ainley High School led the Saints to a three-set victory against UMES this past Friday and turned in a game-high 18-dig performance. Malek followed that up with 12 digs against RMU and then added another 15 digs at Duquesne.
In securing this award, Malek became the first Siena player to be named the Conference Libero of the Week on at least two occasions since Kalehua Katagiri earned three such honors during the 2016 season.
Siena (5-7) returns to the courts on Friday at 6 p.m. when it travels to Jersey City, NJ to take on Saint Peter's (0-10) to open Metro play.
