Siena Baseball Head Coach Alex Jurczynski announced the hiring of Collin Murray as the Saints new pitching coach in July 2024. Murray has spent the past five years serving in various roles in affiliated professional baseball, working for four different Major League Baseball organizations.
“We are excited and very lucky to have Collin join our staff,” said Jurczynski upon Murray's hiring. “He is organized, driven, and passionate. Collin’s experience in professional baseball will without a doubt make our pitchers better, but most importantly he will create an environment for our players to learn and grow. I’m excited to see our pitchers thrive under his tutelage. The future is bright!”
Murray arrives in Loudonville after spending this past season as the pitching coach for the West Michigan Whitecaps, the High-A affiliate for the Detroit Tigers. Murray first worked for the Tigers organization as an information assistant in 2021.
“I’d like to thank Coach Jurczynski for offering me this opportunity,” said Murray upon his appointment. “Siena is an amazing institution with all the resources necessary to be successful. I’m pumped to get to work with a great group of people and develop the talented arms that we have!”
Murray previously worked in the Baltimore Orioles organization for two seasons as a development coach for the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds (2022-23), and served as the minor league video manager for Los Angeles Angels Class-A affiliate Burlington (IA) Bees in 2020. He first broke into the major league ranks as a sales executive for the Miami Marlins in 2019.
A 2019 graduate of Elon University with his degree in Sports Management, Murray previously pitched collegiately at McGill University (2015-17), where he helped lead the Redbirds to a pair of Canadian Collegiate Baseball Association Championships. A native of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, Murray earned his Masters in Communication and Leadership from Georgia Southern University in 2021, while concurrently serving as a graduate assistant coach for the Eagles.
