LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Senior setter Sarah Watkins (Canastota, N.Y./Canastota) was selected MAAC Player of the Week today following a record breaking week involving two Siena wins. In Wednesday's contest with Big East power Syracuse, the 5-9 floor general notched the 2,742nd assist of her career, making her the most productive setter in Siena's storied volleyball history. Watkins surpassed current Siena Assistant Coach Jessica Ladieu '98 to obtain the record.

Watkins efforts extended into the weekend as she dictated the tempo nicely distributing an average of nearly 12 assists per game in Siena's sweep of the MAAC's Western New York members. In the Saints' three game victory over Canisius, she tallied 42 assists-14 per game. In Sunday's thrilling five-game win over Niagara, Watkins dished out 47 assists, collected 17 digs and recorded four blocks. On the week, she also tallied five service aces.

On the season, Watkins is averaging nearly 10 assists per game for the Saints who sit atop the MAAC with a perfect 5-0 conference mark.

Earlier in the week Watkins, a two-time MAAC All-Academic selection, was honored as Siena's Leo Dufort Student-Athlete of the Month. She and the Saints return to action on Wednesday at St. John's. The MAAC Volleyball Tournament returns to Siena's Alumni Recreation Center this year November 17-18.
