LOUDONVILLE, NY – Fresh off of its highest win total (14) in 10 seasons, Siena Volleyball is adding an experienced piece to bolster their back line.
Head coach Tyler Kanelos has announced the addition of Brooke Malek, a graduate transfer libero from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Malek will join the Saints this spring after a decorated career at nearby UAlbany.
"I'm very excited to welcome Brooke here to Siena this spring," said coach Kanelos.
"She adds a great deal of experience from her time at UAlbany and will certainly help us continue the growth and positive strides we made this season."
Malek, a 5-foot-7 libero, has been the Great Danes leader in digs each of the past two seasons.
One of the top defenders in the America East Conference, she has finished in the top four in the league in digs per set in both the 2024 (fourth) and 2025 (third) campaigns.
The 2025 season was the most accomplished for Malek in purple and gold, in which she tallied career highs in total digs (297), digs per set (3.96), aces (15).
Malek also tallied 13 or more digs in 12 straight matches from September 4 to October 3, including 20+ dig performances against Cornell, Boston College, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, and New Hampshire.
These performances led to her earning three consecutive America East Defensive Player of the Week Awards (September 9, 16 and 23).
Malek finished the season third in the conference in digs per set.
Malek will look to add her experience to a well-rounded Saints defensive line, which saw seven players tally 100 or more digs on the season in 2025.
