Women's Soccer Loses Overtime Heartbreaker to Loyola, 1-0

Sep. 30, 2000

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena (3-5-1, 1-1-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) women's soccer team lost in overtime, 1-0, as the Loyola Greyhounds (7-4-0, 5-0-0 MAAC) scored on a free kick 8:51 into the extra period on Saturday afternoon at Siena Field. Loyola forward Annie DiPalo's shot was deflected and Siena senior goalkeeper Lisa Miceli (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) was only able to get her fingertips on the ball, as the Greyhounds scored the only goal of the game.

Miceli made a season-high 12 saves on the day, holding the aggressive Loyola offense to one goal. The Greyhounds had scored 12 goals in their past three games.

The Saints are in action again tomorrow as they play host to the MAAC-rival Broncs of Rider University at Siena Field in Loudonville, N.Y. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
