LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - After leading Siena to a 3-0 week and extending the team's winning streak to 15 games, Gunta Basko was named the MAAC Player of the Week Monday. It marks the fifth time in ten weeks that Basko has won the award.
Basko (Olaine, Latvia/Riga Secondary #3) averaged 22 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4 steals, 3.3 assists and 3 blocks in Siena's three wins. She also made 28 of 47 (.596) of her shots for the week.
The highlight of Basko's week was a 26-point outburst against Rider in which she scored 22 points in the second half of Siena's come-from behind victory.
She ranks among conference leaders in seven different statistical categories-points, rebounds, steals, blocks, field goal percentage, three-point percentage and free throw percentage.
Siena has won 15 games in a row and 25 straight against conference opponents. Both streaks are second-longest in the nation.
The Saints return to action this week in Buffalo. Siena visits Niagara on Thursday and Canisius on Saturday.
