Siena College women's lacrosse head coach Suzanne Bette has announced the signings of two high school seniors to national letters of intent for the 2004 season. Joining the Saint program will be Michelle Eide (Pearl River, N.Y.) and Claire Devine (West Nyack, N.Y.).
"We are excited about our early signees this year," said Bette. "Michelle and Claire are excellent all-around athletes and we are looking for them both to make an immediate impact on our program."
Eide is a midfielder/attacker from Nanuet High School. She scored 81 goals and had 14 assists and 82 grounds balls as a junior and was selected to play in the New York State Games last summer.
"Michelle will be a great asset on both ends of the field," said Bette. "She is not only a huge scoring threat, but will be a pivotal part of our defensive and transitional game as well."
Devine is a three-year varsity letter winner from Clarkstown South High School. She was also selected to play in the New York State Games as a junior last summer.
"Claire is a tremendous all-around athlete," said Bette. "The combination of her speed and pure athletic talent will allow her to become one of our most versatile players."
The Saints finished the 2002 season 0-14 overall and 0-6 in the MAAC. Siena will kick-off the 2003 season on March 16 against St. Francis at 4:00 p.m.
