The Siena women's lacrosse team had two players honored as All-MAAC selections at the MAAC Awards Ceremony on Thursday. Senior defender Diana Bernstein (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart), was named to the First Team while junior attacker Stephanie Petruccelli (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) received Second Team recognition.
Bernstein is a four-year starter for the Saints on defense. She collected a team-best 28 ground balls this season and also topped the squad in caused turnovers (13) despite missing the final three games of the year due to injury.
Petruccelli led the team this season in points (56), goals (37) and assists (19). She ranked among the conference's leaders in scoring, points and goals and lists among the nation's top-20 in points with 3.73 ppg.
A total of nine men and women's lacrosse players were named to the New York Lottery MAAC All-Academic Team. Juniors Tom Nally (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) and Dan Wolpert (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Kennedy) along with sophomore Doug VonBargen (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) represented the men while senior Maureen Condon (Massapequa, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial), juniors Mary-Elizabeth Dupelle (Feeding Hills, N.Y./Agawam) and Gina Purpura (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and sophomores Katie Cruger (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas), Caitlin Doherty (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) and Joan Paul (Schenectady, N.Y./Niskayuna) earned the honor on the women's side.
