Siena College sophomore outside hitter Christie Gustafson has been named MAAC Volleyball defensive Player of the Week. Gustafson averaged 4.2 digs per game in a 2-1 week for the red-hot Saints. In Siena's MAAC opening win over Marist, she registered a game-high 26 kills and added 16 digs.
In Siena's 3-0 win over St. Francis, Gustafson averaged seven digs and 5.1 kills per game, and in the team's 3-2 loss to Binghamton, she had 18 kills and a team-high 17 digs. She contributed three blocks on the week.
On the season, Gustafson leads the Saints with 3.89 kills and 3.59 digs per game. She ranks sixth in the MAAC in kills this season.
The Saints have won four of their last five games and now own a 7-9 record on the season. Siena returns to action this weekend at Niagara and Canisius.
