Katelyn Dooley Earns MAAC Weekly Honors

Feb. 16, 2004

Katelyn Dooley (Troy, N.Y./Lansingburgh) of the Siena women's basketball team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week , the league office announced today. The Rookie of the Week distinction for the week ending February 16th marked the third time the freshman guard received MAAC weekly honors this season.

Dooley helped the Saints sweep a two-game road trip to N.J. with wins over St. Peter's and Rider. She averaged six points per game and three rebounds per game through the two league contests while also posting 2.5 assists per game in 42 minutes of play. Dooley put up six points on the board in each game and in the win over the Broncs she added four rebounds and matched a career-high four assists.

She currently ranks fifth on the team in scoring (6.9 ppg) and assists (34) while listing fourth in steals with 27. Dooley has knocked down a team second-best 22 three pointers and leads the team in three-point field goal percentage (40%) among those who have connected on 10 or more treys. She has also proven to be a sure thing at the line for the Saints as she is shooting 90 percent (18-for-20) from the charity stripe.

The Saints (14-10, 10-5 MAAC) currently sit in third place in the league behind only Niagara (10-4 MAAC) and Marist (10-4 MAAC). The Saints will wrap up their regular-season play as they host Manhattan this Friday, February 20th before heading down to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to face Marist next Thursday, February 26th and returning home to host St. Peter's on Senior Day at the ARC on Saturday, February 28.
